Title: November Moon
Fandom: Original

She looked out over the street that lay out before her, her knees drawn in to her chest and hands clasped tightly within her bulky sweater. The November moon was a sight to behold, all right – something about how the clouds seemed to wisp around the waxing moon gave it just the right effect. These nights were known to be cold out; many stayed holed up within their cozy homes with the heater blasting. But she lived for these nights.

The nights where she would almost be deafened by the silence of the surrounding neighborhood, when she could take in the rustling of the icy breeze through the remaining, stubborn leaves of the trees.

This night, in particular, seemed special. It really was, she mused to herself, as she allowed herself to drift out of mind and out of body and reminisced about a night with this same date many years ago.

The flashing of red, turning over and over, and the wailing cry of a siren, rushing without avail to help a body long past living. The red streaked over the floor, over a pair of hands...over everything, it seemed.

It was then that the tears came. They crept up slowly, quietly, and she didn’t bother as the first ones began to roll slowly down her frozen cheeks. Her breaths came out in puffs as the night pressed in around her. Overbearing. Red. It was all around her, it was all that was on her mind as she lifted her eyes up to the moon.

The almost surreal glow it gave off took her breath away. It looked so beautiful, so promising, and so hopeful. It drew her in and comforted her until the tears went away, and all that was left was her, the moon, and the heavy blanket around her that was silence.

One of the most wonderful things in life was a November moon, she thought. And at that moment the wind picked up speed, and the moon disappeared behind the clouds.

I should do these more often.

Fandom: unknown
Coupling: unknown
Summary: She never expected that chocolate would give her a new path.

She had never understood why the other girls at her school obsessed over their images – whether it was a single strand of hair out of place or the food they ate that, apparently, went straight to their hips. Maybe she really was born lucky, as they told her over and over. Coming into the world with blessed looks, and never having to deal with an obvious acne problem.

So it really shouldn’t have been a surprise when her classmates started to turn hostile towards her when they started noticing her little obsession with chocolate.

The smooth, creamy mixture was to die for, and gave her comfort in those times when her best friend would run off with her little boyfriend. Although she had to admit, they were cute together. She was just jealous of the fact that they had someone to love them unconditionally.

The lunch hour had snuck up on her yet again – and with her best friend being busy with cheerleading, it meant she’d be spending it alone in the library, sneaking chocolates whenever the librarian wasn’t looking at her.

She mulled over the rows and rows of novels: all different shapes, sizes, textures, prints…she was soon submerged within that place that existed just outside of reality, where everything seemed like it might’ve been from within a bubble.

Popping a chocolate into her mouth and reaching out to take a promising book from the shelf at the same time – Memoirs of a Geisha – she was startled when an uninvited voice interrupted her reality.

“Mind sharing a chocolate?”

It was a deep voice, one that was smothered with curiosity, and amusement. Gripping the book in her hand, she turned and found herself staring at how his dark bangs swept over his forehead. Him.

A pause.

“Actually, I do mind.” She replied curtly before turning her attention back to the book she had chosen. She hadn’t read but a few words before she noticed he had reached out and snagged a piece, despite her answer.

“Hey!”

He winked at her from behind the half-moon glasses.

“Thanks, princess. You shouldn’t eat so much chocolate, by the way. It’ll catch up with you later on in life.”

And with those words, he was off and out of the door, letting the door swing slowly shut behind him.

Sucky, but also the first thing I have written in a long, long time.
